Eggs!

Can you find Nicky the Naked Neck Chicken?  He is so ugly that he's adorable.

We are finally able to put our cool egg baskets to use!  11 eggs today-- or otherwise known as an Akey Dozen.  As the hens ramp up production Mike will be making the rounds and would love you to try a dozen eggs.  We were so excited that we had eggs for breakfast and egg salad for lunch.

I started some seeds today.  Onions are germinating so that they can be transplanted in another 6 weeks.  I am also going to start some butter lettuce heads and some leeks.

As much as I love the eggs, egg salad is such a pain. Fresh eggs do not peel well after being hard boiled. You have to let them get old first so there is an air pocket. I have tried every "trick" I ave read and I still lose so much egg when I peel them. :( Pity. I love me some good egg salad. If yours worked well, let me know your trick.

I used the last of the store bought eggs for the egg salad. We dont need them any more. We have fresh eggs. Really fresh eggs.

Wow the eggs sound very exciting! Too bad we are in Chicago or we could buy some.

Do the chickens get upset when you come by and take the eggs?

The chickens dont just get mad, they get even.

I must say, I benefited from a visit and a gift of a dozen free eggs from the farm. I am officially hooked. There is a difference and they are delicious. Sign me up for an egg Share!
